The Cave Family

John Cave married Martha Clara Martin at All Saints Church, Husbands Bosworth on the 8^thJune 1835.

In the 1841 census John (30) and Martha (30) live in Theddingworth, Leicestershire.
Living with them is their child Charles Henry (2)

2. Edmond Joseph was born in 1841 on December 31^st in Theddingworth, Leicestershire.

In the 1851 census John (42) and Martha (45) live on Sheaf Street, Husband Bosworth.
Living with them are their four children Charles Henry (11), Edmund Joseph (9), George (6) and Ellen Mary (3). Also recorded at the time of the census lodging with them or just visiting is James Cave (21) and John Cave (19), not sure what their relation to John and Martha is?
John’s occupation is Master Builder, James is Bricklayer and John’ is Pupil Teacher.
John's place of birth is down as Husbands Bosworth as is son George, daughter Ellen and vistor John,
Martha was born in Budbrooke, Warwickshire, Charles and Edmund in Theddingworth and James in North Kilworth, Leicestershire.

In the 1861 census John (57) and Martha (55) live at the Wheat Sheaf Inn,Westlin, Husband Bosworth.
Living with them are their four children Charles Henry (21), Edmund Joseph (19), George (15) and Ellen Mary (13).
John’s occupation is Builder and Victualler (another name for a publican), and the sons are down as Builders.

On 28^th July 1864, Edmund Joseph Cave married Louisa Loomes at All Saints Church, Husbands Bosworth. Edmund’s occupation is down as Mason, which is the same occupation put down for his father John.
Louisa's father George is down as a Labourer.
Witnesses are down as Charles Henry Cave and Ellen Mary Cave, Edmund's brother and sister.

In the 1871 census John Elkington (61) and Martha (65) live on the High Street, Husband Bosworth.
Living with them is their son George James (26).

In the 1871 census Edmund (29) and Louisa (27) live on High Street, Husband Bosworth.
Living with them are their three children Mary Elizabeth (6), John George (4), and Austin Edward (0).

In the 1881 census John (72) and Martha (76) still live on the High Street, Husband Bosworth.
Living with them is their Grand Daughter Mary C (16), Edmund's daughter?
John’s occupation is Bricklayer and Mary is down as a Servant

In the 1881 census Edmund (39) and Louisa (37) still live on High Street, Husband Bosworth.
Living with them are their four children John George (14), Austin Edward (10), Ellen L (8) and Agnes C (5).
Edmund’s occupation is Bricklayer and John’s is Bricklayers Labourer.
Edmund's place of birth is down as Theddingworth, Leicestershire, everyone else is down as Husbands Bosworth.

In the 1891 census John (81) widower is living on Butt Lane, Husband Bosworth.
Lodging with him is Robert Morton (59) a Agricultural Labourer born in Swinford, Leicestershire.
John’s occupation is Retired Builder.

In the 1891 census Edmund (49) and Louisa (47) still live on High Street, Husbands Bosworth.
Living with them are their three children Austin Edward (20), Francis E (9) and, Florence M (7).
Edmund’s occupation is Bricklayer and Austin’s is Agricultural Labourer.

I did come across Children Ellen L (18) and Agnes C (15) living in Leicester with their married Sister Mary E Jackson (26).

1.    Charles Henry...............I came across a Charles Henry J Cave who died in 1870 aged 31 (Sep 7a 10 Mt. Harbro)

2.    Edmund Joseph...............See above and below

3.    George James...............married Sarah Jane Coleman in 1882 (Sep Mt. Harbro 7a 42). I found George and Sarah in the 1891 and 1901 census' living on Church Street, Husbands Bosworth.
They had two children Helen J G born in 1892 and Percy G L born in 1896. Could not find anymore information on the family after the 1901 census

4.    Ellen Mary...............Could not find anymore information on Ellen after Edmund's wedding.

In the 1901 census Edmund (59) and Louisa (56) still live on High Street, Husband Bosworth.
Living with them are son Francis E (19), daughter Florence M (17), and granddaughter Agnes M (7).
Edmund’s occupation is Bricklayer (Journeyman) and Francis’s is Gardener (Apprentice).
The children’s place of birth is down as Husbands Bosworth, Agnes M is down as Coventry Warwickshire.

In the 1911 Census Edmund (69) and Louisa (69), now living alone, still live on High Street, Husband Bosworth.
Edmund’s occupation is Bricklayer.

1. Mary Elizabeth...............married Thomas William Jackson in 1887 (Jun 7a 501 Leicester). In the 1891 census Mary and Thomas have 2 children, May L born 1889 and Tom G born in 1891.

2. John George..................married Mary Ann Burns on 17^th September 1890 in Coventry at the RC Church of the Most Holy Sacrament. They had a daughter Agnes Mary born in 1894 in Coventry Warwickshire. John died in 1894 aged 27, (Sep 6d 249 Coventry) and Mary moved back to Husbands Bosworth with Agnes Mary. Mary died in 1897 of Rheumatic Fever and Agnes was brought up by her grandparents Louisa and Edmund. (see 1891 census for CAVE, John George)

3. Austin Edward..................married Elizabeth Alice Gray in 1893 (Mar 7a 53 Mt. Harbro). In the
1901 census Austin and Elizabeth have 4 children, Winifred born 1895, John born in 1896, Elsie born in 1899 and Vincent born in 1900 (see 1901 census for CAVE, Austin Edward)

4. Ellen Louisa..................married William Woolman Stretton in 1897 (Dec 7a 514). In the 1901 census Ellen and William (who share a house with her younger sister Agnes and her family) have 2 children, Lilian born 1899, and Lewis born in 1901 (see 1901 census for Stretton, Ellen Louisa)

5. Agnes Clare..................married Herbert Bilsdon in 1900 (Sep 7a 533). In the 1901 census Agnes and Herbert (who share a house with her older sister Ellen and her family) have 1 child, Gladys born 1901 (see 1901 census for Stretton, Ellen Louisa). They had three more children, Herbert, Agnes and Ethel.
Agnes C Bilsdon died in 1942 aged 67 (Dec 7a 266 Leicester)

6. Francis E..................I found Francis (27) in the 1911 census working as a Foreman Domestic Gardener, his address is given as The Bothy, Swynnerton Garden, Stone, Staffordshire. I came across
an Francis E Cave who died in 1959 aged 77 (Mar 3a 736 Leicester.)

7. Florence Mabel..................I came across an Florence M Cave who died in 1950 aged 65 (Mar 3a 859 Mt. Habro.)
