He is married to Maria (35) and they have six children living with them, John (14), Mary (11), Lucy (9), Eliza (6), Thomas (3) and Hannah (1).
All the family are down as being born in Fleckney.

Thomas’s occupation is Agricultural Labourer, as is his son John.

Thomas’s profession is Worsted* Framework Knitter as is his daughter Eliza.
Thomas jnr. and Hannah are Seamster.
William, Maria and Albert are down as being born in Fleckney.

*Worsted is a type of cloth made from long-staple wool fibres which have been tightly twisted when spun. 
It is a very hard-wearing cloth.

In the 1861 Census Lucy Sturgess (19) is working as a Servant at 40 London Road, Leicester. The family she is working for is Frederick and Mary Leicos**(Livens) who have three children, Frederick (7), Mary (3), and 
Cary (1).
Also living with them is Mary Smith (24) another servant.
Frederick Leicos**(Livens) occupation was a Commercial Traveller.

**Looking at the original census Leicos should be Livens.

Lucy Sturgess Marries George Loomes on 6th March 1864.

In the 1871 Census Thomas (57) and Maria (53) are living at Old Crown, Fleckney.
They have four children living with them, William (18), Maria (16), Albert (12) and Lydia (9).

Thomas’s profession is Framework Knitter as is his son William and daughter Maria. (Going to the original census).
Lydia is down as being born in Fleckney.

In the 1881 Census Thomas (66) and Maria (64) are living in Fleckney.
They have one child living with them, Lydia (19).

Thomas’s profession is Framework Knitter (unemployed), Maria is Seamer (Hosiery) and Lydia is Linting Machinist (Hosiery).

I came across a Thomas Sturgess who died Jun 1887 in Mkt. Harborough, aged 73. (7a 10)

In the 1901 Census Maria (84) is living with her daughter *Maria (46) and son-in-law Ezra Deacon (54) 
at 81 Victoria Street, Fleckney.
They have three children living with them, son Thomas A (16), daughter Ethel M (8) and step daughter Sarah L Folwill (22).

Ezra’s profession is Framework Knitter, Thomas is Winder (Hosiery) and Sarah is German Seamer. Everyone is down as being born in Fleckney.

*Maria's marriage to Ezra ( Mar 1884 Mt. Harbro 7a 45) was her Second Marriage, her first marriage had been to Samuel Folwell on 12th February, 1877 (Mar Mt. Harbro 7a 31), but Samuel died the following year at the age of 23 (Dec 1878 Mt. Harbro 7a 11). The birth of they daughter Sarah Lizzie was registered Mar 1879 Mt. Harbro 7a 12.
